Immortal 32 House

History

The Immortal 32 House is a log cabin near Seguin that dates back to the Texas Revolution. It was built by Ira and Prudence Nash. After Ira was killed by an accidental gunshot, Prudence married George Kimball.

George Kimball is a particularly important figure in Texas History. He was the best friend of Sam Houston. He was the commander of the Gonzales ranging company which then became the Texas Rangers. He was the very first Texas Ranger, the first Texas Veteran, and the leader of the famed Immortal 32. When the pleas went out for help from the Alamo, he and his men were the only ones to answer call. Despite his wife being pregnant with twins, he told her he needed to defend his country. They entered the mission, and were massacred days later. For their bravery, the group became known as, the Immortal 32.

After the fall of the Alamo Prudence was taken up into the Hill Country as part of the runaway scrape. She later married another important figure in Texas History, Claborne West, who was a signer on the Texas Declaration of Independence. The log cabin has an historical designation because of him.

The house loosely remained in the family for decades before another family took it over. The current owner hopes to operate the property as a Living History Museum as an example of life in early Tejas.

Legend

The Immortal 32 House is over 100 years old and has been inhabited by countless families. For a long time people have reported strong feelings of being watched. They’ve heard their names called out, along with the sounds of a baby crying.

The log cabin isn’t the only source for strange activity, a ranch house dating back to the early 1900’s is the home of a large shadow figure.

While many believe the hauntings have to do with the strong men who came and went from here, one can’t wonder about the strong woman who made her life with multiple husbands, children, and much trauma at this house. It just might be Prudence Nash Kimball West who still resides here.
